Gabriel will not play against for Arsenal this season after being injured against Fulham on Tuesday night.

Arsenal confirmed a mammoth injury blow on Thursday with news that centre-back Gabriel Magalhães would not play again this season having picked up a hamstring injury against Fulham this week.

That news comes as a suckerpunch with the Gunners just celebrating the return of starboy Bukayo Saka, who was on target against the Cottagers at Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta’s side have a quarter final clash with Real Madrid next week but will have to make do without the Brazil international.

Considered one of the Premier League’s best defenders, Gabriel has also picked up five goals in all competitions for the side this season, and has a famous partnership with Frenchman William Saliba.

Arsenal confirm Gabriel injury

An Arsenal statement confirmed the injury blow to centre-back Gabriel Magalhães. The message shared on the official club website read: “Further to being substituted during our match against Fulham on Tuesday, we can confirm that Gabriel Magalhaes has sustained a hamstring injury which requires surgery.

“Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days, and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season. Everyone at the club will be fully focused on supporting Gabi to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.”

The defender has missed just three matches this season through injury. Gabriel was not in the squad to face Manchester United and Fulham in the Premier League in December and also missed out against Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup due to a knee problem. Jakub Kiwior played alongside William Saliba at centre-back for those top flight fixtures.

Gabriel life with WAG Gabrielle Figueiredo

Gabriel has been dating Brazilian partner Gabrielle Figueiredo since 2020 and the two tied the knot in June 2023. The model and fashion brand owner was born in Rio de Janeiro and made the move to London with the football player.

The social media star has an impressive 178,000 followers on Instagram with story highlights showcasing her love for travel, yoga and Arsenal. There are plenty of photos from the couple’s wedding too, which the model described as ‘the happiest day of our lives’. The couple have a daughter named Maya who was born in March 2022.

Figueiredo opened up about Gabriel’s injury on Wednesday when speaking at a screening of Amazon Prime's Married To The Game. She said: “It’s difficult. I think the perfect example is now, because he got injured yesterday.

“So that is why he's not here with me today. He would love to be here. I would love to be here with him. Yesterday we got the news he got injured, and now he is with the doctor having scans. So this is the real life, and we were never expected to anything like this.”

Gabriel Magalhães net worth

According to SportsDunia, Arsenal man Gabriel has an impressive net worth of £20 million and a weekly salary of £100,000. He is not one of the top earners at the Emirates Stadium with players including Kai Havertz and Declan Rice thought to be earning more than double that.

The defender has earnt his impressive net worth through his big wages as a footballer at Arsenal, as well as at Lille and and Brazilian side Avai. The Gunners paid £27 million to sign the player in 2020 from the French club.

Former Premier League scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that a new contract could be in the offing for Gabriel. He said: “I think a lot of these things are agent-led, [getting] their clients talked about – like we are, and in the press. And then the [agents] go to the managers; ‘so and so’s interested in him’, which is probably not the case, they’ve just stirred the pot.

“Gabriel signing a new contract, that’s more likely – given Arsenal’s situation, I would find it very difficult to believe that they would be in favour of him moving on, or allowing him to move on.”

In other news, Arsenal fans won’t be happy with the Premier League announcement for Everton this weekend.
