Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Armenia with the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia

On April 3, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Magdalena Grono, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia.
The interlocutors discussed regional issues. The efforts aimed at establishing lasting peace in the South Caucasus were touched upon.
Touching upon the process of normalization of relations with Azerbaijan, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of signing the treaty on peace and the establishment of interstate relations, which has been agreed upon following the extensive negotiations. The discussion also touched upon the component of unblocking the regional communications within the normalization process, in which context Minister Mirzoyan recalled Armenia’s concrete proposals, developed based on the fundamental principles of international law.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Magdalena Grono also discussed humanitarian issues, including addressing the fate of missing persons and the return of Armenian prisoners of war and other detained persons.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the steps aimed at deepening the partnership between Armenia and the EU, including through the effective use of existing instruments.
