Chelsea will be looking to get back to winning ways in their second of three consecutive London derbies on Thursday night after falling to defeat to the Emirates in their last game before the international break.
Enzo Maresca's side had won four matches in a row in all competitions prior to their defeat in north London, and will be looking forward to playing back in front of their home fans having won six and drawn one of their last seven games at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues head into the midweek round of matches sat fourth in the Premier League table, with a two point cushion above sixth placed Newcastle who lead the chasing pack for the five Champions League positions, though the Magpies have played a game fewer.
The west London side have lost only one of their last 20 matches at Stamford Bridge in all competitions dating back to August, and will be bidding for their sixth consecutive home win when Spurs cross town to visit on Thursday.
Tottenham make the trip to Stamford Bridge having won only one of their last five matches in all competitions, having most recently fallen to a 2-0 defeat by Fulham in another London derby just before the international break.
Ange Postecoglou's side have now lost four of their last five matches away from home in all competitions, in what has been a desperately disappointing campaign for the north London club, which has the club down in 14th place in the Premier League table.
Spurs head into the midweek round of fixtures 10 points off the top half of the table with only nine matches to play, leaving them in line for a bottom half finish for the first time in 17 years.
Chelsea have won eight of their last 10 matches against Tottenham, including each of their last three, tasting defeat only against Spurs only once in the league in their last 12 meetings.
The north London side are winless from their last eight visits to Stamford Bridge, and have won only once there in the league in 35 years.
