A Dockside hotel where you can rub shoulders with Liverpool FC players is one of the best in the UK. The Titanic Hotel is among the finalists for VisitEngland’s tourism industry awards.
Seven Merseyside businesses were nominated across the categories of entertainment, hotel, family, and international. The 52 finalists, selected by handpicked industry experts, will compete in 16 core categories at the national awards later this year.

The Titanic Hotel hopes to come away as a winner at the awards on Wednesday, June 4. And ECHO reporter Ryan Paton certainly agrees that the venue deserves to do so.
He visited the Stanley Dock venue in 2023 and unexpectedly bumped into a familiar face in the elevator. He said: “There are a million ways to experience a night of luxury in Liverpool and I was fortunate enough to enjoy one of them.
“I was tasked with the incredibly daunting prospect of determining whether an award-winning hotel, recognised as one of the top places to stay in the UK, really lives up to the hype. It's a difficult job sometimes, but someone has got to do it, and on this occasion, it was me.
“So, as the working week came to an end for many, it sadly continued for me and my partner as we packed a change of clothes and made the short journey out of the city centre to Stanley Dock for a spa afternoon and overnight stay at the Titanic Hotel. The things we do for content.

“As I walked through the entrance, I was immediately impressed by the hotel's elegant setting, and it was easy to see why people chose this grand building to be the backdrop for memories that will last a lifetime.
“I was greeted by a friendly member of staff and received my room key while standing next to a magnum of Lanson outside the Champagne bar, which added a touch of glamour that would set the tone for the rest of the weekend.
“Our room was set on the top floor and the panoramic view of the city's waterfront from the large bay window filled the room with light and provided an opportunity to soak in just what an exciting part of the city the hotel is located in.
“I'm not usually the sort of person who is able to switch off enough to enjoy a spa weekend but I felt completely rejuvenated and like a new man after a much needed detox at the Maya Wellness Blue, which highlighted the importance of taking a couple of hours out of the day for yourself.

“Feeling revitalised after the spa session, we had now also worked up an appetite so it was fortunate it wasn't too long before we were about to enjoy a three course meal inside the hotel's Stanley's Bar and Grill. We dried off after the spa and headed back to the room before donning our glad rags for a night at the stylish restaurant.
“The restaurant is a huge space. which makes it ideal for large groups, and we were sat in a comfortable booth seat where we were able to enjoy fantastic views of the Dock. The menu is chocked full of options so we ordered a bottle of wine while we browsed the options.
“The next morning, I woke up with a slightly fuzzy head on account of perhaps one too many Negronis and an ill-advised trip to the city centre. As I excitedly made my way for breakfast for some much-needed early morning fuel, I was taken aback by a pleasant surprise in the lift as I spotted a familiar face.

“Although I am a season ticket holder at Anfield and can't wait to see the Reds return to action, I still needed to do a double take before I properly realised I was sharing the lift with new signing, Alexis Mac Allister.
“In my defence, the Argentinian boasts strong Celtic roots - and this means he could easily pass as a Scouser so I was initially hesitant to ask for a photo just in case I'd accidentally asked some lad from Walton staying overnight with his girlfriend for a picture. However, the Givenchy hoodie gave me confidence it was indeed the World Cup winner and I plucked up the courage to ask him for a photo.
“The number 10 was thankfully very generous with his time and happily posed for a picture. Although he was presumably in a rush on his way to training so we sadly did not get chance to catch up about the time we both graced the ECHO front page alongside Louise Redknapp.”
The team behind the Titanic Hotel are no strangers to winning awards, having previously won the category they are currently nominated for. The four-star hotel was also featured in The Times and Sunday Times edition of the 100 best places to stay in Britain and reportedly housed Taylor Swift when she came to Liverpool.
VisitEngland director Andrew Stokes said: "England’s tourism industry has good reason to celebrate. As the finalists demonstrate, businesses across every region provide outstanding customer service along with high-quality experiences while constantly innovating to find new ways to give more to visitors and the communities they serve.
"The applications to this year’s awards and the list of finalists are a testament to the range of first-class products on offer to both domestic and international visitors. I congratulate all the finalists who are already winners, and I wish them the very best of luck."
