Everton look set for a summer of change with Angus Kinnear already sanctioning one exit behind the scenes at Goodison Park.

The Toffees will make the move from Goodison to Bramley-Moore Dock this summer, with David Moyes recently sharing an admission about Everton’s new home.

However, this major change is just one of many, with Kinnear set to arrive from Leeds and become Everton’s new CEO, while Kevin Thelwell will depart the club at the end of the season.

It is all part of a reshufling behind the scenes as the Friedkin Group make their mark, and despite not yet arriving on Merseyside, Kinnear is expected to have already played a part in one big exit decision.

Kinnear to shake things up behind the scenes at Everton

Kinnear is likely to bring a few people from Leeds with him to Everton.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

However, as well as potential incomings, it appears as though the 47-year-old is already making some decisions on outgoings at Everton, too.

As reported by Alan Nixon (30 March), Everton’s current chief scout, Dan Purdy, is set to remain with the Toffees, as Kinnear is a known admirer.

Purdy’s position had been under review, but he now appears set to remain as part of Moyes’ backroom staff. Meanwhile, Everton officially confirmed on Tuesday (1 April) that head of academy recruitment and player pathways James Vaughan would be leaving the Blues later this month.

And ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes Kinnear would have had a role to play in this exit decision.

“I know him,” King said.

“As we said before, Kinnear is coming in from Leeds; he will want to bring in people he knows and people he has worked with. I’m sure this is all part of that reorganisation at the football club.

“I would imagine Kinnear has been brought in to make these kinds of decisions, and this is one of his early decisions.”

Everton supporters should feel optimistic

While a lot of change at once perhaps feels scary, supporters should be feeling optimistic about the future at Everton.

After the past few years, a major shake-up was needed, and it seems as though this is exactly what the Friedkin Group are doing.

Therefore, if the right decisions are made, there could soon be a lot to cheer about on Merseyside.
