Arsenal are unbeaten in six since following their 2-1 win over Fulham on Tuesday.
Makeshift centre forward Mikel Merino scored his fifth goal in eight games since becoming Arsenal’s number nine to put Mikel Arteta’s side 1-0 up before a returning Bukayo Saka came off the bench to double their lead just seven minutes into his return.
A 94th minute goal from Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz prevented Arsenal from keeping the clean sheet but it wasn’t enough to stop them taking all three points.
The Gunners will be without centre back Gabriel Magalhaes, who they lost a quarter of an hour into their midweek game with a suspected hamstring injury, right-back Jurrien Timber is also a doubt as the Dutch international was replaced due to injury 13 minutes before the end.
Everton were narrowly beaten by Merseyside rivals Liverpool on Wednesday, but not without controversy. Liverpool forward Diogo Jota scored the only goal of the game just before the hour mark, with Everton head coach David Moyes believing it should have been disallowed as Luis Diaz appeared offside in the build up.
The loss was the Toffees first in 10 league games and only their third since David Moyes took charge, however they had drawn each of their previous four league fixtures beforehand and remain 15th, 14 points above the relegation zone.
Everton have lost just one of their last six games at home to Arsenal having conceded on only three occasions. Arsenal were left frustrated in the reverse fixture, despite owning most of the possession and not conceding a single shot on target, the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
