It came as a surprise back in January when Kyle Walker opted to swap Manchester City for AC Milan.
The 34-year-old has won the lot with City and the fact he went to the San Siro on loan did catch the fan base off guard somewhat.
Walker has made 11 appearances for Milan and it’s fair to say that their season is not going according to plan.
The Serie A giants are down in ninth place in the league table and face the genuine possibility of not qualifying for European competition next season.
It’s not clear what the future holds for Walker but given his age, many presumed that the England international might well finish his career at the Etihad Stadium.
For the first time, Walker has been discussing his departure and it appears he got one aspect of the move wrong.

Kyle Walker lifts lid on Manchester City exit
Walker has swapped a battle towards the Champions League places with a mid-table scrap and he’s better than that.
The player has admitted that it’s taken him some time to settle in Milan, admitting it didn’t really sink in when he first moved to the club.
He said on The Kyle Walker Podcast: “And from the inside, it didn’t go as quickly as what people think from the outside. But you don’t, as a footballer, you don’t really think about things. I think it probably hit me three weeks into being here.
“And I was like, oh, my gosh, like, I’ve just upped and left. But in football, I think when certain things come or certain opportunities come, you have to take them. You have to take it.
“And for me to experience a different league, for me to experience a different culture, for me to play for a club like AC Milan, I don’t think you can turn that down. And when, you know, they want you or you want to go there and you want to, you know, have a new challenge, I think these are certain clubs in the world that you kind of can’t say no to.”
Kyle Walker unlikely to get City reprieve
Milan have a chance to sign Walker, and as a result, they will likely take that option up.
Despite being 34, Walker can still play and was recently recalled to the England squad based on his efforts in Milan.
Pep Guardiola will almost certainly move on from Walker in the summer.
The City head coach is keen to add more energy and athleticism to his squad and that will not help Walker when it comes to earning a reprieve.
Walker has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, a Champions League and four League Cups during his time with City.
