How the Premier League table would look based on home performances
A rejuvenated Marcus Rashford, who netted twice against Preston in the FA Cup quarter-final, continued his impressive start to life in the West Midlands with a composed chipped shot over Bart Verbruggen in the early stages of the first half before fellow January signings Marco Asensio and Donyell Malen displayed their quality with precise efforts in the second half, helping Unai Emery’s team to a comfortable without even having Ollie Watkins in the line-up from the start.
It marked a sixth consecutive victory for Emery’s team across all competitions and propelled Villa ahead of the Seagulls into seventh position - just behind the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United and Manchester City in the race for fourth.
Villa have eight league games remaining to decide their European fate and are still juggling a Champions League quarter-final and an FA Cup semi-final as they aim to make it one of the best seasons in the club’s recent history.
The Lions will hope to make Villa Park a fortress in the remaining games of the season, but how does their strong home form this term compare to the likes of Newcastle, Man City and Chelsea this season? Here’s all you need to know:
Aston Villa’s home Premier League record this season
Aston Villa have won seven of their opening 15 home games while recording seven draws and falling to just one league defeat. No team in the Premier League has lost fewer games at home than Aston Villa this term, with Liverpool and Arsenal both only losing once at Anfield and the Emirates Stadium respectively.
Villa have found the net 25 times at home this season and have conceded 18 goals. They have an average points per game of 1.87 , which is the sixth best in the entire Premier League behind Chelsea, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest, Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Villans take on Forest, Newcastle, Fulham and Tottenham in their remaining top-flight home matches.
How Aston Villa’s home form compares to their Premier League rivals?
Chelsea have won eight, drawn four and lost two of their 14 home games this season, giving them an average of two points per game at Stamford Bridge. They are yet to lose a home game in 2025 but have experienced a series of lacklustre away performances which have jeopardised their bid for Champions League qualification.
Newcastle United responded excellently to their Carabao Cup final triumph with a solid 2-1 victory at home to Brentford. It marked their eighth home win in 14 matches and took their average points per game up to 1.86. The Magpies, however, have fallen to four defeats at St. James’ Park and also drawn two other league matches. Here we take a look at how the Premier League table would look if it was just based on results at home this season:
