Diogo Jota’s fine individual goal earned Liverpool a crucial Merseyside derby win over Everton and moved the Reds a step closer to the Premier League title.
Wednesday night’s match at Anfield was the first Merseyside derby since the two sides drew 2-2 in a dramatic encounter at Goodison Park in February, during which Liverpool boss Arne Slot was sent off after full-time.
In a game of few clear-cut chances, Jota’s slaloming run early in the second half earned the hosts a crucial victory and re-established their 12 point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Slot’s side are now on the verge of winning the Premier League title for just the second time in the club’s history, however it appears that those in charge of the club’s recruitment are still eyeing potential new signings ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
According to CaughtOffside, the Reds are one of a number of Premier League sides interested in Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler.
Guler has attracted interest from several Premier League sides
The 20-year-old joined Real from Turkish side Fenerbahce in 2023 and has since made 5 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.
This season the attacking midfielder, who can also play as a winger, has made 32 appearances but has started just seven La Liga games for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Fellow Premier League side Aston Villa are also said to be monitoring the Turkey international, however there could be a rather awkward obstacle in the way of Liverpool pushing a move for the player.
During the recent international break, Guler became embroiled in a war of words on social media with Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, in the wake of Turkey’s game against Hungary.
Guler is under contract with Real Madrid until the end of the 2028/29 campaign.
