Leicester City could be on the lookout for a new manager once the 2024/25 campaign draws to a close, and Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Rohl is one they’ve placed on their list.
City are cut adrift inside the Premier League relegation zone by 12 points and since Ruud van Nistelrooy replaced Steve Cooper in November, their campaign has unravelled into a nightmare.
Van Nistelrooy created more unwanted history on Wednesday night as Leicester lost 2-0 to Manchester City, extending their run to 14 losses in their last 15 matches.
The Dutchman has looked out of his depth tactically since taking the job and could be replaced in the summer, with Leicester eyeing Liam Rosenior as a replacement.
Rosenior is also joined on their list of candidates by Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl, who has a substantial release clause in his contract.
Fans urged for Van Nistelrooy to be sacked after their latest loss against Man City while Rohl has already made his feelings known on replacing him.

What Danny Rohl has said on Sheffield Wednesday future
Rohl has become one of the Championship’s most exciting managers taking the Wednesday job in October 2023.
The German tactician miraculously kept the Owls in the Championship last term and now has them sitting five points outside the top six in 2024/25.

It’s a turnaround that has caught the eye of several clubs, including Southampton, and Rohl offered an update on his Sheffield Wednesday in March, claiming his ‘full energy’ is with the Yorkshire outfit.
“All the rumours don’t influence me. My full energy is here with Sheffield Wednesday,” Rohl said via the Yorkshire Post.
“I am not listening to left and right. My focus is here because I know what we have to do, I know my responsibility to this group, to the club, for our massive fans.”
Rohl clearly sees his short-term future with the Owls but amid the financial turmoil at Wednesday and the unpaid player wages, perhaps he’d be tempted by a move to the King Power Stadium.
Jannik Vestergaard has praised Rohl
Leicester came up against Wednesday twice in the Championship. The Foxes were held to a 1-1 draw in November 2023 before securing a 2-0 victory in February 2024.
Speaking before the 1-1 draw in 2023, centre-back Jannik Vestergaard praised the work of Rohl after previously working with the 35-year-old at Southampton.
“I know their manager. I worked with him at Southampton and he has a very good football mind on him,” Vestergaard said.
“It’s a team we cannot underestimate, and I expect them to be coming at us. It’s a very difficult game away from home against a very big football club. They will want to beat us for sure.”
In a full circle moment for the player and manager, Vestergaard could be reunited with Rohl this summer, should the German become a genuine contender to replace Van Nistelrooy.
