Chelsea goalkeepers in contention to be next season’s No.1

Ranking all four of the Chelsea goalkeepers, on of whom can be next season’s first choice stopper.

Chelsea goalkeepers options

Chelsea have plenty of options in terms of choosing their no.1 keeper for the next campaign. Robert Sanchez is currently their first choice between the sticks. While Filip Jorgensen is second in line after Sanchez.

Caomhim Kelleher is being linked with the Blues for the summer window. Although, Liverpool might want to keep him for a longer duration. There are doubts if the west London side could even try to sign a new player in that position. They already have number of options to choose from.

Due to recent poor performances, the Spaniard could lose his place in the starting-eleven. Djordje Petrovic and Mike Penders could be replacing Robert and Jorgensen next season.

Penders has just played 17 games at senior level. But he is only 19 years old. As of now he is at fourth, behind other three keepers. However, the Blues will give him minutes next campaign to show his potential, as per The Telegraph. That could be the reason why the side is not looking to sign a new stopper.

Sanchez has a lot of experience in the Premier League. Only if Mike Penders had more games in his bags, he would have replaced Robert to move up the ranks.

The Spain international has seen making too many errors this season. The fans think that he’s not a good choice to be starting the games for their club.

Recently, few weeks ago he made a mistake in the match against Arsenal. That was his eighth error he made in this campaign in the Premier League. So, he would be sitting at the third place in the list.

Filip Jorgensen has not had much impact when given chance in the side. He is also known to make bad mistakes. His error lost his side a point in the draw against Aston Villa earlier this season.

The Denmark international has also had some good games in the Conference League. If Sanchez could be given a lot of chances, than Filip should also get his fair share of opportunities. He is currently the second choice goalkeeper, and things may remain as it is for him.

So, after analysing all the other players, Djordje Petrovic has been consistently decent at his job. He went to Strasbourg on loan last year. He did a good job last campaign at the Stamford Bridge, and continues to do so at Strasbourg.

The west London fans also want him back at the club. Now, it’s up to Enzo Maresca to choose his side’s no.1 goalkeeper for the next season.
