Nets Rejected Monster Trade Offer From Celtics for Kevin Durant in 2022

When Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets during the 2022-23 season, the Boston Celtics were reportedly interested in acquiring the future Hall of Famer.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Celtics offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a first-round pick to the Nets for Durant.

The Nets rejected the Cetics' offer for Durant, who wound up getting traded to the Phoenix Suns on February 9, 2023.

Based on what has happened since Durant requested a trade from the Nets, it appears the Celtics are fortunate that Brooklyn rejected their trade offer.

Boston won the 2024 championship against the Dallas Mavericks, with Brown winning the Finals MVP Award.

Meanwhile, Durant's run with the Suns has been disappointing. Phoenix lost to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 2023 playoffs and was swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2024 postseason.

With Brown and Jayson Tatum leading the way, the Celtics are in second place in the East this season. They are looking to become the first team since the 2017-18 Golden State Warriors to win back-to-back titles.

Durant and the Suns could part ways this offseason, while the Nets are in rebuild mode and are hoping to win the 2025 draft lottery.
