Chelsea vs Tottenham – Team News: Key players return but 2 injury prone stars drop out

Chelsea face Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in just over an hour, and the teams are in!

In goal Robert Sanchez keeps his place, as we expected. Malo Gusto plays at right back, with Reece James left on the bench presumably to keep him in cotton wool following his international exertions with England.

In defence, we were expecting to see Wesley Fofana, either at centre back or right back. Instead he misses out entirely, and it’s Trevoh Chalobah alongside Levi Colwill. That’s very worrying considering Fofana’s important to the team and his injury history – we will hopefully get an update from Enzo Maresca soon.

The standard double pivot of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are in the middle, with the returning Cole Palmer ahead of them.

Out wide Pedro Neto is able to return to his natural position after a spell up front. Nicolas Jackson is finally back after two months out – we’re really counting on him to transform this team as an attacking force.

Jadon Sancho keeps his place in the team, even though Noni Madueke is fit enough for the bench.

Here are the full team line-ups for Chelsea vs Tottenham (kick off at 20:00 GMT)

Missing Fofana is manageable – we’re a better team with him in there, but we trust Trevoh in his absence. We just pray it’s not too serious.

Having James and Madueke to come off the bench puts us in a strong position in terms of mixing things up later on, with Christopher Nkunku, Tyrique George and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall also available to come in if needed.

This is a huge game and we desperately need 3 points. There’s no reason we can’t beat this struggling Spurs side at home and force our way back into the top 5.
