TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool holds Huijsen in such high regard that they believe he could be Virgil van Dijk’s ideal successor as their future defensive leader.
Moreover,Football Insider reported that Liverpool are considering Van Dijk’s age as they discuss a new contract, with the center-back set to turn 34 this summer.
The report from TEAMtalk adds that while the club hopes Van Dijk will extend his contract, they’re also keeping an eye on the long-term and are determined to sign a new center-back, even if the skipper stays.
As for the cost, Huijsen has a £50 million release clause in his contract with Bournemouth.
