Liverpool 1-0 Everton: Bitter Blue's Last Trip Across Stanley Park

With Everton due to move into their new Stadium at the docks, this was their last chance to walk home across Stanley Park in good spirits. Arne Slot’s Liverpool had other ideas as David Moyes’ Everton were sent home packing with their pockets full of yellow cards and empty wishes.

Disgraceful Refereeing

‘Liverpool always moan about their Referee’s’.

When James Tarkowski charges in with studs up and slams into the shins of one of your best technical Midfielders in Alexis MacAllister.

Perhaps we are justified in calling out such reckless and typical Everton behaviour.

The PGMOL initiated contacted with Liverpool representatives post match to inform them that they are aware of the error made. A yellow card awarded for what was clear for all to see, an attempt at ‘serious foul play’

The game was marred by a succession of fouls given to Everton for the smallest of contact. Yet Mo Salah, and Luis Diaz being grappled to the ground the entire evening was within the rule book.

An incident that epitomises the referee’s performance

Dominik Szoboszlai plays a ball over the top of the Everton defence. He gets cleared out by Doucouré in the follow through of the 50/50 challenge.

The ball drops to an Everton defender who plays a poor ball back to Pickford, and right as Darwin Nunez intercepts and is through on goal, the referee blows his whistle for the foul.

Pickford then smashes into Darwin Nunez in what would’ve been a stone-wall penalty had the referee not blown for the foul.

Simply poor refereeing. The delay in blowing the whistle, and then refusing to play advantage right as Darwin Nunez runs through on goal.

Sam Barrett, a relatively young and inexperienced referee overseeing one the most heated games in English Football. The occasion was simply to big.

Liverpool March On

Ultimately despite Everton’s best and reckless efforts, The Reds prevailed.

It seemed like just another game for Arne Slot’s Liverpool. They combined a composed performance with a moment of class to put away David Moyes’ on form Everton.

The Blue’s were unbeaten in 9, which included salvaging a miraculous 98th minute draw at Goodison against Liverpool which of course, they celebrated like a win.

Perhaps a draw with Liverpool is their best result of the season. Must take what you can get when you’re an Everton fan.

We gave them their highlight of the season, now it was time to rise above. Liverpool certainly did that.

Liverpool not getting dragged to their Level

What impressed was how despite Everton doing all they could to drag Liverpool into a battle of will’s. The Reds remained calm, composed and ultimately allowed their quality to prevail in the end.

Diogo Jota’s tidy dribble past two players, dropping Pickford on his rear and 1-0 it remained despite the Referee’s immense efforts to change that.

Onwards and Upwards for the Reds

Now on 73 points in the League, 12 ahead of Arsenal, 4 wins from our last 5 whilst sending the Bitter Blue’s packing. It was a pleasant Wednesday Evening to be a Liverpool Fan.

With 8 games remaining, Arne Slot requires 4 wins to do what no one thought he could.

What a beautiful time to be a Red
