West Ham star Lucas Paqueta is facing plenty of uncertainty over what his future holds.
The hearing over his alleged spot-fixing in the Premier League is now underway, with all eyes on the Brazilian as he waits for an outcome.
The worst-case scenario of the trial is a lifetime ban from football, which would have serious implications for his future.
However, if the outcome of the trial goes Paqueta’s way, he could still be making his way out of The London Stadium.

Manchester City want Paqueta
As the summer transfer edges closer, clubs are starting to eye up their potential business to get to done before the new season gets underway.

Although the trial is hanging over Paqueta, he did play in the Hammers’ 1-0 loss against Wolves on Tuesday (1 April) as he is allowed to feature until an outcome is delivered.
The West Ham star has denied any wrongdoing after being accused of purposefully getting yellow cards to influence the outcome of bets, but if he is found guilty, the punishment could end his career.
According to TBR Football, West Ham are feeling quietly confident that he will avoid any punishment as the outcome of proceedings is set to be revealed soon.
However, even if he is allowed to stay put in East London, Paqueta could still be set to leave Graham Potter’s men behind.
The TBR report states (3 April) that Manchester City are keeping tabs on the ongoing case, and if he is found not guilty, the champions may be keen to sign him after previously being interested before the betting breach emerged.
Pep Guardiola is said to be a fan of the attacker and has told the hierarchy at The Etihad that he wants a deal to be pursued in the summer transfer window.

Paqueta could depart West Ham
Potter will have plenty of work to do as the summer transfer window arrives at West Ham with business having to be limited in the winter.
Although the new boss has been able to lift his side away from the threat of relegation this season, there is certainly a way to go if the Hammers are going to lift themselves up the table next summer.
It’s hard for Potter to be making any clear-cut plans over the future of Paqueta, although he has returned to the squad after regaining fitness.

That being said, if he is found not guilty and Manchester City are prepared to make a move, they could well give the East London outfit a bit of cash that could then be re-invested in the rest of the team.
The Brazilian hasn’t been up to the expected standards so far this season, but once the pressure of the case is lifted, it could well change things next season.
