2 NBA GMs Could Lose Their Jobs This Offseason

As the NBA regular season comes to a close, there are many questions about the future of multiple franchises.

Two of them could be facing serious changes in the months ahead.

According to Evan Sidery, general managers James Jones of the Phoenix Suns and Monte McNair of the Sacramento Kings are “viewed around the NBA as two general managers who could lose their jobs this offseason.”

“For the Suns and Kings, massive organizational overhauls could soon be on the horizon,” Sidery wrote.

This season hasn’t panned out as expected for these teams.

Even with their big three of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, the Suns are the 11th seed in the West with a 35-41 record.

As for the Kings, they are just ahead of them in the tenth spot with a 36-40 record.

Jones and McNair have underseen their teams go through some substantial adjustments but they still aren’t where they want to be.

Would the firing of these two be enough to help their respective teams, or would their struggles continue?

If Jones and McNair are fired, it’ll likely be in the midst of other massive changes.

It is very likely that there would be players, and possibly coaches, who would also be sent packing.

This report suggests what many people have already believed: the Suns and Kings could be on the path to massive transformations.

Whether it’s because of the loss of GMs, players, or coaches, it’s unlikely these squads will look the exact same next season.

Both teams are vying for spots in the Play-In Tournament right now.

If they fail to make it, you can expect more rumors about Jones and McNair.
