Premier League sides interested in Man United defender

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will hope to see his side return to winning ways when they face Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

United slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, leaving Amorim’s side 13th in the Premier League table and almost certain to miss out on a place in next season’s Champions League.

Unless, that is, they can win the Europa League, which would guarantee them a place in Europe’s top club competition next term.

The Red Devils face French side Lyon in the quarter-finals, and Amorim will be desperate to see his side triumph in the competition and book themselves a place in next term’s Champions League.

In the meantime, it appears that one of United’s defenders is attracting interest from elsewhere in the Premier League.

According to TBR Football, both Everton and West Ham United are showing interest in United central defender Victor Lindelof, who is set to be a free agent this summer.

Lindelof could stay in the Premier League when he leaves Manchester United

Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Wolves are all also said to be monitoring the player.

The Swede joined Man United from Portuguese side Benfica in 2017 for a fee of £40 million, and the report suggests that his former side are also considering a move to land the defender.

Several clubs in both Italy and Germany are also said to be keeping tabs on the Sweden international, who has played more than 270 times for United across all competitions but fallen out of favour over the past couple of seasons.

This term the centre-back has featured just 14 times and started only two of United’s Premier League games.

Lindelof, 30, is set to be out of contract at the end of the current campaign, ad he is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.
