Geno Smith, who was traded by the Seahawks to the Raiders on March 7 after contract negotiations between the two sides broke down, finally has his long-awaited new deal.
As first reported by the NFL Network, ESPN and other national outlets, Smith and the Raiders have agreed on a two-year extension that adds on to the 2025 season, keeping him under contract through 2027.
The two new years are said to be worth up to $85.5 million, with $66 million guaranteed, with the entire three years of the contract now worth up to $116.5 million, according to The Athletic. Smith is due to make $31 million in 2025 in the final season of a three-year contract he signed with Seattle in 2023.
That
A source confirmed the Seahawks offered Smith a two-year extension that would have kept him under contract through the 2027 season. That contract was said to be worth in the $40-45 million average range per season, though it was not clear how much of that was guaranteed and incentive-based.

After trading Smith, the Seahawks signed Sam Darnold to a three-year contract worth up to $100.5 million.
Because the Raiders and Smith did not have an agreement, the team has yet to hold a news conference introducing Smith, and he has yet to publicly comment on his trade. A news conference will presumably happen soon.
Raiders coach Pete Carroll said at the NFL annual meeting earlier this week that the team was working on a deal with Smith and that he was optimistic it would happen soon.
“We’re working on it,” Carroll said. “Yeah, we’re working on it. [Smith’s] excited to get going, get started. He’ll be here when we get rolling. But we are working on it.”
