Arsenal are set for one of their biggest transfer windows in the club’s history this summer. Reliable journalist, David Ornstein has provided a huge update on the Gunners plans, as new sporting director Andrea Berta begun work in North London this week.

It’s well known Arsenal’s main priority is signing a striker this summer. The full goal-scoring responsibility was mainly on Kai Havertz’ shoulders before he picked up a serious hamstring injury in February.

The Gunners are so short in the number nine position that Mikel Merino has started the last seven games up top, scoring five goals in that time. Mikel Arteta is convinced signing a striker will take his team to major silverware next season.

As well as a striker, the Arsenal manager also wants to bring in depth on the right wing behind Bukayo Saka. David Ornstein has provided an update on the club’s interest in Nico Williams.

David Ornstein: “Arsenal’s long-running pursuit of Nico Williams – based on Mikel Arteta’s desire to sign him – is well documented. A recruit in that position has been on the agenda for some time & it remains the case.”

“Clearly it seems like Arsenal will try again, but this is a highly challenging deal to do & therefore there is no guarantee it happens. Williams is expected to be more open to a move in the summer of 2025 than previously.”

Despite the priority being in attack this summer, the Gunners also may need to look at some defensive reinforcements depending on who leaves the club. David Ornstein has revealed Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney could all be surplus to requirements ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

“I could only see a centre-back arriving [at Arsenal] if there is a departure. The obvious name that springs to mind is Kiwior, but we’ve been here before — he generates interest, especially from Italy, but so far nothing has come to fruition.”

“Tierney & potentially Zinchenko leaving would theoretically create space to strengthen at left-back, but the presence of Calafiori & Lewis-Skelly means that is by no means certain.”
