Manchester United have set an ambitious price tag for Antony and another La Liga club has joined the race for the loanee.
Antony joined Manchester United from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for a staggering £85 million transfer fee, which certainly raised some eyebrows.
While the Brazilian winger showed promise in his first season, his performance has since declined over the last two campaigns. In fact, his total of 12 goals for the club is fewer than the 14 yellow cards he received during two and a half seasons at Old Trafford.
That led to Ruben Amorim sending the player on loan to Real Betis and some “outstanding” performances from the Brazilian winger has made his name shine in the Spanish football scene.
Since joining the club in January, Antony has managed to record four goals and four assists in 12 appearances, making him a popular figure within La Liga.
Antony’s potential move to Atlético Madrid
Despite his difficulties at Old Trafford, the 25-year-old’s loan spell at Betis showcases clear evidence that he has the potential to succeed at a high level outside of the Premier League.
His impressive form has influenced top clubs to keep a close eye on the player ahead of the summer transfer window.
In fact, the latest report from IPaper Sport, as per Stretty News, states that Atletico Madrid are showing serious interest in recruiting the United loanee.
According to information from the outlet, United have set a £40 million price tag for Antony, which may impact Betis’ ability to keep him after his loan deal expires.
Reports from elsewhere have suggested that the Seville-based side want to try and sign the Brazilian on another loan deal but there is no doubt that the Reds would prefer a permanent exit.
Antony’s focus amid transfer speculation
While transfer rumours continue to swirl around Antony, the Brazilian winger has made it clear that his current focus is on enjoying his time at Betis.
His performances since joining the club have been impressive, and his bond with the city and the fans seems to have helped him rediscover his joy for the game.
The player recently shared his thoughts on the significant personal and professional shift he’s experienced since moving to Seville.

“I am very happy … I found myself, I needed to find myself, I needed to be happy, I needed my family to be happy too. Every day that goes by, I see that it’s the best decision I’ve made,” Antony told DAZN.
“I am enjoying the city, the club, every day. [Seville] reminds me a lot of things from Brazil – the sun, the food, everything. The people are also very warm. I’m very happy, and that’s important for us as Brazilians.”
