Former Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs has quickly become a star at the NFL level, forming half of an elite backfield tandem for the Detroit Lions alongside David Montgomery.

Since he was selected No. 12 overall in Round 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft, Gibbs has worn the No. 26 jersey. However, that seems set to change as we prepare for the 2025 season.

Per a release from the Lions, Gibbs will be switching his jersey number from 26 to 0 ahead of his third NFL season.

Also of note in the above graphic, WR Jameson Williams, a first-round pick (No. 12 overall like Gibbs) in the 2022 NFL Draft, will switch from the No. 9 jersey to the No. 1 uniform. And finally, 2024 Round 1 pick Terrion Arnold (No. 24 overall) will give up the No. 0 uniform to Gibbs and make the switch to No. 6.

As you can see, the Lions really like drafting former Alabama stars in the first round of the draft. Will they take Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell this year when the NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 24, in Green Bay? Based on Detroit’s track record, don’t be surprised if that does indeed end up being the pick.
