Insider Says Kings Could Lose 2 Players This Offseason

We may be nearing the end of a very important era in Sacramento Kings history.

The postseason is just weeks away, and the Kings are struggling to earn their place in it.

It’s been a very up-and-down season so far, and massive questions loom over the team.

Sam Amick is reporting, via Evan Sidery, that both Domantas Sabonis and DeMar DeRozan will have “tough conversations” about their future this summer.

“If both players decide to request a trade out of Sacramento, another long-term rebuild could be on the horizon,” Sidery wrote.

The loss of one of these stars would be troubling, but the loss of both would be devastating.

If Sabonis and DeRozan both decide their time in Sacramento is over, the team would instantly start a rebuilding process.

And depending on how the trades go, that process might take years.

If the Kings can receive big returns in exchange for these two, they could possibly improve their current situation and remain in the hunt for the playoffs next season.

But if they get a lot of draft capital instead, it might be a long road.

Even with some great talent in the lineup, things haven’t come together for the Kings this year.

There has been front office drama, some major trades, and too many injuries.

Plus, the West has been so competitive, and the Kings just couldn’t keep up.

They are 10th in their conference right now, which means they are fighting for their chance to enter the Play-In Tournament.

Their best-case scenario is to battle through that and then face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round, which is daunting.

No matter what happens, this summer is going to be filled with many challenging and difficult conversations and a lot could change in Sacramento.
