Liverpool restored their 12-point lead at the top of the Premier League table by beating Everton 1-0 in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday.
After a goalless first half, Diogo Jota produced a fine finish to put the hosts in front, and Arne Slot’s side were able to hold on and take a huge step towards the top flight title.
The Reds now sit 12 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal with just eight games remaining, and the Gunners therefore look set to finish as runners-up for the third consecutive season having missed out to Manchester City in the previous two campaigns.
Off the pitch, though, the two clubs look set to battle it out in the race to sign an England star.
According to CaughtOffside, both Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze, 26.
The Englishman has been in fine form for the Eagles this season, scoring six times and providing nine assists in 32 games across all competitions.
Eze could be on the move this summer
He also netted for England in a 3-0 win over Latvia in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup last month, and it appears that the Englishman’s impressive displays haven’t gone unnoticed.
It is claimed that both the Reds and the Gunners are among the frontrunners to sign the midfielder this summer, while fellow Premier League sides Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring his situation.
Eze joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in 2020 and has since played more than 150 times for the South London club across all competitions.
He is under contract with the Eagles until 2027, but Eze’s current deal includes a £60 million release clause and the report suggests that he could therefore depart Selhurst Park during the upcoming transfer window.
Eze’s versatility is likely to appeal to potential suitors, with the Englishman able to operate as an attacking midfielder or on the left flank.
