Pundit Hints Taylor Has Already Signed Deal

Pundit Stephen McGinn, the older brother of Scotland and Aston Villa star John McGinn, has shot down the suggestion that Celtic left-back Greg Taylor will make a summer move to Rangers on a free transfer, a theory recently floated by Ibrox cheerleader Kris Boyd.

McGinn acknowledged Boyd’s point about Taylor being a solid option for Rangers, given his experience in the Scottish Premiership and his role as a Scotland international.

However, he was clear in stating that a move to Rangers isn’t something Taylor would be likely to pursue.

McGinn said: (The Go Radio Football Show), “I don’t think their left-backs are good enough. They are conceding far too many goals. I think the left-back is a problem, and they absolutely need one.

“I can understand where Kris (Boyd) is coming from, in terms of a Scotland international, he knows the league, he is a winner and has won loads of trophies. He is available on a free transfer, but I just can’t see it happening.

“I can’t see Greg Taylor seeing the positives from that. The negatives outweigh the positives.”

Despite dismissing the potential move to Rangers, McGinn also speculated that Taylor may already have his future sealed elsewhere. Reflecting on previous transfer rumours, including reports linking Taylor to Dinamo Zagreb, he suggested that it wouldn’t be surprising if the Celtic left-back had already agreed a pre-contract deal with the Croatian champions.

McGinn said: “You remember the Dinamo Zagreb story when it broke that he had signed there. It wouldn’t shock me at all if he has already signed a pre-contract.”

Celtic fans are no doubt keeping a close eye on Taylor’s situation, especially after Brendan Rodgers hinted last week that it’s more likely the player will leave the club than stay.

With the summer transfer window edging closer, it appears that Taylor’s future at Celtic is becoming increasingly uncertain. With Kieran Tierney set to return, it seems that him rejoining the Hoops means Taylor will leave on a free transfer.
