EARLY SEASON SUCCESS

The Bulldogs have found success early this outdoor season, with three program records set after two meets.

Jan Málek opened his 2025 season by setting a new school record of 3:48.89 in the men's 1,500m on the first day of the 49ers Classic (March 21-22). DaMarr Harvey also had an incredible season opener at the Classic, locking down the men's 200m in 20.88 and taking silver in the men's 100m in 10.58. His outstanding efforts earned him his first Big South Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week title, announced March 26. Harvey was just .17 off his school record in the 200m and .25 away from his school record in the 100m, both of which he set at last year's Big South Championship.

The Bulldogs carried this momentum into the Raleigh Relays last Thursday, March 27, where Málek reset the men's steeplechase record to 8:58.03. Adam Hessler and Paul Kiprotich followed suit at the Relays in the men's 10,000m, with the duo running the top two fastest times in program history. Hessler reset his school record to 29:38.51, an impressive 21 seconds faster than his previous mark of 29:59.29. In his first 10,000m for the Bulldogs, Kiprotich finished in 30:01.04, entering at No. 2 in the record books.
