Chelsea have climbed back into the top four of the Premier League table with a crucial victory over fierce rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. Enzo Fernandez's goal on 50 minutes proved to be enough in a typically incident-packed encounter in SW6.
The Blues were so close to taking the lead within a minute when a mixture of Nicolas Jackson and Micky van de Ven saw the ball hit the post. The hosts continued to push in the first-half but could not find a way to break the deadlock in west London.
Early into the second period, though, and Chelsea were ahead. A fantastic cross from Cole Palmer found Fernandez, who headed past Vicario for what is his fifth Premier League goal of the campaign - and his second against Spurs this term.
Chelsea thought they had made it 2-0 minutes later when Moises Caicedo volleyed into the bottom corner. However, the VAR ruled the goal out for offside in the build-up. And the VAR was at it again moments later, but this time in Chelsea's favour.
Pape Sarr's shot from distance beat Robert Sanchez but the Tottenham midfielder was deemed to have fouled Caicedo in the build up. Craig Pawson went to the pitchside monitor and gave a foul and a yellow card to Sarr.
A truly crazy game that somehow finished only 1-0. Below, **Bobby Vincent** rates the Chelsea players out of 10 based on their performance.
**Robert Sanchez** \- Dealt with crosses well. Decisive. Not too bad. Great save in the 90th minute to deny Son Heung-min. **7**.
**Malo Gusto** \- Great block early on to deny Son Heung-min. A bit sloppy with his crossing, though. **5**.
**Trevoh Chalobah** \- Fantastic over-the-top ball to find Jackson within the first minute. Did well. Was absolutely seething with Rodrigo Bentancur in the brawl at the end of the first-half. **6**.
**Levi Colwill** \- Did okay. Usually when you don't notice a centre-back in a game, it is a good thing. **6**.
**Marc Cucurella** \- Great block to deny Lucas Bergvall on 32 minutes. Did well. **6**.
**Moises Caicedo** \- Bodied Micky van de Ven to win the ball in the first-half in a truly brilliant moment which saw the Blues then counter. Chelsea fans loved it. Chelsea fans love him. Thought he scored in the second-half but it was disallowed for a marginal offside. His display merited a goal. A world-class performance. **9**.
**Enzo Fernandez** \- A great header. Once again, arriving late into the box and scoring. A real sign of improvement this season under Enzo Maresca. **8**.
**Pedro Neto** \- Anonymous for most of it. Needed so much more from him, in a game you thought would have suited him because of his pace on the counter-attack. **5**.
**Cole Palmer** \- A sublime delivery to find Fernandez for his goal at the start of the first-half. His first league assist in two months. **7**.
**Jadon Sancho** \- He answered Maresca's call to shoot quite early on, but it was unfortunately deflected out for a corner. Then had a 30-second period in the first-half where he had two great opportunities to shoot but doesn't. The fans did not like it. Had another effort tipped over before the break. He needs to do so much more. **4**.
**Nicolas Jackson** \- Had a great chance within the first 60 seconds where he was incredibly unlucky to not open the scoring. Good at linking the play but his finishing was not quite there. Good to have him back, regardless. **6**.
**Substitutions**
**Noni Madueke** \- Great to see him back. Got himself just over 20 minutes. Bright when he got the ball. **6**.
**Reece James** \- On late on and did well. **6**.
**Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall** \- On for the 12 (yes, twelve) minutes of stoppage time. **N/A**.
**Tosin Adarabioyo** \- See above. **N/A**.
