**DayofPal**– In one of the deadliest attacks in recent weeks, Israeli forces launched a series of airstrikes on Thursday targeting schools sheltering displaced civilians in Gaza, unleashing fire belts that resulted in mass casualties.
The strikes, which primarily hit the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, claimed the lives of dozens and left hundreds wounded.
The latest escalation saw the bombing of Fahd Al-Sabah School on Thursday evening, killing at least four people and injuring many more. The school, which housed hundreds of displaced Palestinians, became the second educational facility struck within hours.
Medical sources confirmed that the bodies of the four victims were transported to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital amid mounting casualties.
Earlier in the day, a far deadlier strike targeted Dar Al-Arqam School, resulting in the deaths of at least 29 people, including 18 children, women, and elderly civilians. More than 100 others were injured, while many remain trapped under the rubble.
The Government Media Office in Gaza confirmed that the toll is expected to rise, as emergency responders struggle to reach victims in the wake of the near-total collapse of the healthcare sector.
Civil defense teams described the situation in Gaza as “unprecedented madness.” Rescuers reported that children’s remains were strewn across the bombed-out ruins of the schools, their bodies shredded by relentless Israeli firepower.
“We are witnessing complete devastation,” a civil defense official stated. “Our teams lack the resources to recover the wounded. Dozens are still buried under the debris, and we can’t reach them.”
Heart-wrenching footage of the immediate aftermath of the Dar Al-Arqam School massacre flooded social media, showing the lifeless bodies of children and the desperate cries of survivors.
According to local sources, Israeli warplanes fired three heavy missiles directly at the school’s main building, which was filled with displaced families seeking refuge from the relentless bombardment.
Following the attack, a surge of victims overwhelmed Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in central Gaza. The facility, already operating beyond capacity, struggled to accommodate the influx of wounded civilians.
Medical officials warned that supplies are critically low and that continued airstrikes could lead to a total breakdown of healthcare services in the city.
The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that within the past 24 hours alone, 100 people were killed, three of them recovered from the rubble, while 138 others sustained injuries.
Since March 18, the death toll has risen to 1,163, with 2,735 wounded. The broader war, which reignited on October 7, 2023, has now claimed the lives of 50,523 Palestinians, leaving 114,776 injured.
Officials further noted that many victims remain trapped under destroyed buildings, while emergency responders are unable to reach them due to the ongoing bombardment and severe shortages of rescue equipment.
As the humanitarian catastrophe unfolds, global condemnation of Israel’s tactics in Gaza continues to mount. However, with no ceasefire in sight, the residents of Gaza remain caught in an unrelenting cycle of bloodshed and devastation.
