The Saga Continues: Will Anyone Want This NFL Free Agent Gem? – 5 Possible Team Fits

In a surprise, NFL free-agent gem wide receiver Elijah Moore is still available on the market. According to reports, he was one of the “most intriguing” free agents, but interest could pick up after the draft this month. Originally selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Ole Miss product began his career with the New York Jets, recording average numbers across two seasons until joining the Cleveland Browns in a trade in 2023. Moore isn’t the best pass catcher on the market, as Amari Cooper is still available as well, but he has a lot of upside a team could benefit from as a long-term investment.

The wide receiver wasn’t explosive during his time with the Browns due to the emergence of Cooper and keeping the team competitive. Moore could be a better wide receiver if he is in the right situation after playing with two back-to-back poor quarterbacks like Zach Wilson and Deshaun Watson. A contender might make sense for Moore, but that depends on what the team needs. The wide receiver won’t sign before the NFL Draft, but it’s possible a signing could come soon as the Denver Broncos are the latest team that may pursue him.

However, Moore’s stock could pick up these next couple of weeks and these five teams could take a chance on him.

Possible Next Teams

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs could be in dire need of a wide receiver, depending on the situation of Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice. The two wideouts found themselves in recent legal troubles, and if a potential suspension comes, the Chiefs could need a new pass catcher. Veteran Marquise Brown may be returning, but it’s for a one-year deal. Elijah Moore might not be the primary wideout in this group, but he could prove to be a consistent weapon in a better system.

Los Angeles Chargers

The same can be said about the Chargers, even though they need another wideout. Mike Williams is past his prime and probably won’t exceed big numbers this upcoming season. Moore might not start strong, but he could create some relief and separation in the aerial attack for quarterback Justin Herbert.

Dallas Cowboys

For the Cowboys, it’s hard to imagine they will walk into the 2025 season with CeeDee Lamb as the only capable superstar wide receiver on this team. While there are rumors of a Tyreek Hill trade, something like that isn’t possible, knowing the mindset of Jerry Jones. Elijah Moore makes more sense in the Cowboys’ situation, as he won’t take too much of the cap space.

New Orleans Saints

Speaking of cap space, the Saints don’t have the financial liberty to afford the best wideout in a trade. This is why they brought back Brandin Cooks to help speed up the corps in the wide receiving unit behind Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. There have been rumors that Olave could request a trade, and if that happens, they should sign Moore to start new, even though Mickey Loomis doesn’t want a “complete rebuild.”

Baltimore Ravens

DeAndre Hopkins is joining the Baltimore Ravens for probably his last season in the league. There haven’t been any updates on what will happen for DeVontez Walker’s future since he’s still developing, but the Ravens should sign Moore as a capable backup in that unit to help establish him and Walker while they start Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman.
