Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has a new number, and it’s probably not what you would’ve guessed. Gibbs established himself as one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the entire NFL last season. Detroit came under a wave of criticism after selecting Gibbs with the 12th overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. But in two seasons in the league, he’s rushed for 2,357 yards and 26 touchdowns to go along with 833 receiving yards and five scores.
Last season, when backfield mate David Montgomery went down with an injury, Gibbs solidified his place as one of the NFL’s premier running back. Now, as he looks forward to a year where all eyes are on him, the Alabama product will rock a far different look.

Detroit Lions Star Jahmyr Gibbs Makes Switch From No. 26 To No. 0 For 2025 Season
Gibbs switched from his famed No. 26 to No. 0 for the new season, drawing a wide range of reactions from fans in the process.
“Fans should get a free jersey exchange if a player changes their number,” one wrote.
“The amount of guys who change numbers is ridiculous… if you buy a jersey you should be allowed to get a new replacement one every year,” wrote another.
Notably, Gibbs takes the number of former Alabama teammate and current Lions teammate Terrion Arnold, who switches from No. 0 to No. 6. Arnold, a first-round pick in the 2024 draft, drew criticism as one of the most penalized players in the entire league as a rookie.
