Bears to sign veteran QB Case Keenum as mentor to Caleb Williams, Tyson Bagent: source

The Bears have been looking to add a veteran to their quarterbacks room to help mentor Caleb Williams, and they found one in Case Keenum.Keenum agreed to a one-year deal with the Bears worth up to $3 million Thursday, a source said, and he’s likely to be their third-stringer behind Williams and Tyson Bagent. With Williams and Bagent learning a new offense under coach Ben Johnson, there’s a strong likelihood the team will carry all three on the active roster this season.Keenum, 37, started two games for the Texans last season and completed 34 of 53 passes for 291 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions while going 1-1. The last time he was a full-time starter was with the Broncos in 2018.This will be Keenum’s 11th season and eighth team. He has been in the league since 2012, when the Texans signed him to their practice squad after a stellar career at the University of Houston.

Boykin is from Tinley Park and starred at Providence Catholic before going on to play at Notre Dame.
