Liam Delap Ipswich
Manchester United’s 2024–25 Premier League season has been nothing short of a disaster. While they’ve reached the Europa League final, it’s done little to mask the glaring flaws in their domestic campaign.
Sitting 16th in the table, this is a season the Red Devils would love to forget, but can’t afford to.

Ruben Amorim was appointed mid-season after the club wasn’t happy with the results that Erik ten Hag was getting but the team have only regressed further under the Portuguese tactician.
Of course, he has been trying to instill some principles at the club but that doesn’t justify sitting 16th in the Premier League table.
Thus, the upcoming summer promises to be pivotal to the future of Man Utd and it could make or break their next few years. If they get it right, they can return quickly to the top echelons of the Premier League but if the gamble doesn’t pay off, it might see the Red Devils becoming exclusively a mid-table club in coming seasons.
A complete open-heart surgery:
What Man Utd need, in the words of the wise Ralf Ragnick, is an open-heart surgery and of the many parts that they need to fix, the striker position continues to be one of them. Rasmus Hojlund has flattered to deceive since his move from Atalanta while Joshua Zirkzee’s abilities are best showcased playing just behind a natural number nine.
One of the most-inform and spoken-about young strikers in the Premier League this season is Liam Delap. The ex-Manchester City striker has had a brilliant season with Ipswich Town but is set to go down with the Tractors. However, he has a release clause of around £30million and there is no doubt that some Premier League club is going to trigger the same this summer.
In 38 games for a struggling Ipswich side across all competitions, Delap managed 12 goals and provided two assists, which does make for good reading. There is no doubt that these numbers are bound to improve once the 22-year-old starts playing for a side that creates more chances.
Troy Deeney approves:
Talk-sport co-host Troy Deeney has urged the English youngster to move to Man Utd to continue his career as it would give him the chance to play for a top team but also give him the assurance of being a guaranteed starter. Here is what he said as quoted by Talk Sport:
“He has to play [to get into England squad] right? So his next step would be, if I was advising him, would be that with Man United, it’s nailed on. If he went to Man United, he’d start every week. He’d instantly make them better.”
On paper, a move for Liam Delap could tick several boxes for Manchester United: youthful energy, Premier League potential, and an affordable price tag. But the reality, as always, is more complex. Would Delap be willing to cross the Manchester divide? And would United fans embrace a former City prospect?
For now, it’s an excellent idea—one that could offer mutual benefits for player and club. But as with many things at Old Trafford these days, the execution will matter far more than the concept.
