Some things never change in Scotland, no matter what you try.
When Celtic secured the 2024/25 Premiership title at Tannadice last month, it was the club’s 14th crown in the last 15 seasons.
Whether it’s Brendan Rodgers in the Celtic Park dugout or Neil Lennon, the results have always been the same, and that’s Scotland’s most successful club lifting trophy after trophy.
Rangers have tried to do everything they can to stop the dominance, including resorting to desperate measures by appointing Barry Ferguson as interim manager when they sacked Philippe Clement in February.
But it seems as though Rangers, ahead of a potential takeover from the San Francisco 49ers, won’t be looking to give the gig to Ferguson full-time.
Instead, an interesting name has popped up, as Carlo Ancelotti’s son could be tasked to try and stop Rodgers and Celtic.

Rangers could appoint Carlo Ancelotti’s son, Davide, amid Celtic’s dominance
Rodgers has seen more Rangers managers go by than those at Ibrox have won trophies during his time in Glasgow.
But when Ally McCoist and Gabby Agbonlahor spoke about Davide Ancelotti, the son of new Brazil boss Carlo, becoming Rangers manager, talk also turned to Celtic.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
And, to nobody’s surprise, they cried on talkSPORT about how Celtic are dominating, and why it needs to change amid this talk of a new manager coming in at Rangers.
“That’s an interesting one,” said McCoist about Davide Ancelotti becoming Rangers boss. “I can’t lie to you. I don’t know an awful lot about Davide Ancelotti. Obviously, I know a lot more about his dad.
“But it is a route down a different direction. I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing.”
Agbonlahor responded: “I think Rangers need that. I think Barry Ferguson has done well in European games, but to win one out of seven at home in the Scottish Premier League isn’t good enough.
“Maybe they need that different direction. They need someone not associated with the club.”
McCoist added: “They need massive change. Obviously, change at the top. I assume if the new takeover comes in, then they will have some money. They need to re-group. Stabilise themselves.”
Agbonlahor then claimed: “But, for the league as well, you can’t have a league where one team has dominated so easily, and the league has won so long before the season is over. The best times are watching the SPFL when it was neck and neck. And the derby game decided who would win the league.”
McCoist agreed: “Competition. Competition. It’s Competition.”
Brendan Rodgers’ record as Celtic manager
There are question marks as to whether Rodgers will sign a new contract at Celtic, but one thing is for sure: he will be at the club next season.
The Irishman’s current deal expires during the summer of 2026, and there has been a lot of noise around what will happen.
Over Rodgers’ two spells as Celtic manager, he has won the title every season, and is now on course to lift another Treble.
