The Friedkin Group are poised to face a new challenge at Everton despite making strides since the takeover in December.

Everton have come a long way since the Friedkins bought them from Farhad Moshiri at the end of last year, with the new owners quickly steadying the boat.

Dan Friedkin has already reduced the Toffees’ debts, while the decision to replace Sean Dyche with David Moyes in January has paid dividends.

The owners have also hired Angus Kinnear as their new CEO, as they prepare for major personnel changes in what is going to be their first summer transfer window on Merseyside.

Henry Winter instantly reacts to Goodison Park development

In yet another positive move from The Friedkin Group, Everton have confirmed that Goodison Park will become the new home of their women’s team when Moyes’ side move to the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium at the start of next season.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

This means that English football’s first purpose-built stadium will be the most iconic venue in the Women’s Super League, thus serving as a major boost to Brian Sorensen and Co.

The news has been welcomed with open arms by everyone associated with Everton, with Henry Winter among those describing it as ‘great’ news.

Winter is delighted that fans will still be able to experience football at one of the most iconic stadiums in the world.

However, he believes this move would pose a ‘business challenge’ to the Friedkins, as it would be difficult to fill the 39,000 capacity stadium, considering women’s football is still on the rise.

“Great news”, Winter wrote on his personal X handle (13 May).

“Fans can still go and watch football at one of the most famous, historic grounds in the world.

“A business challenge, but price the tickets right, promote the players, market the games, and the fans will turn up.”

Great news. Fans can still go and watch football at one of the most famous, historic grounds in the world. A business challenge but price the tickets right, promote the players, market the games … and the fans will turn up. #EFC https://t.co/PZLtD9eQc7

Everton PSR implications revealed

The decision to make Goodison Park the women’s team’s home does not have anything to do with PSR rules.

While clubs receive support for promoting women’s football, this move comes after The Friedkin Group conducted a feasibility study.

Friedkin has made it evident from day one that building the women’s team is high on his agenda, and this only stands as testament to that promise.

The move to Goodison is guaranteed to be a huge boost to Sorensen’s team next season.
