Newcastle United want to hand Alexander Isak a new contract this summer, while one player has confirmed he is open to a new deal.
The Magpies have been embroiled in an ongoing saga regarding the Swede’s future; several clubs are interested in him, but Eddie Howe is adamant that he is not for sale.
Alexander Isak has been remarkable for Newcastle United this season, scoring 27 goals in all competitions, including a vital strike in the Carabao Cup final to help the Magpies win their first trophy in 70 years.
With good form comes a lot of transfer speculation and interest from elsewhere. Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in Isak, but it would come at a serious cost if Newcastle were even willing to let him go.
The belief is that Isak will cost £150m this summer after successive 20-goal seasons in the Premier League.
Paul Mitchell will commence contract talks with Isak at the end of the season, when Newcastle’s position in Europe is clear.
While Mitchell prepares for talks with Isak, another Newcastle star is reportedly keen on extending his stay with the club past his original expiry date.

Sven Botman willing to extend Newcastle United contract
Defender Sven Botman returned to the starting XI for Newcastle’s win against Chelsea on Sunday, managing 55 minutes before coming off.

The 25-year-old has missed the majority of this season after suffering an ACL injury in March 2024. £35m signing Botman returned to action in January but suffered another knee injury, keeping him out for a further six weeks.
Botman showed what he is capable of in his limited appearances this season. The Dutchman is immensely calm on the ball and is willing to put his body on the line to keep attackers at bay.
According to a recent report from inews, Botman is willing to sign a new deal with the Magpies.
The report also states that informal discussions took place with Paris Saint-Germain last year after they showed interest in him, but his ACL injury thwarted any further talks.
Botman is still seen as a crucial part of Newcastle’s plans going forward, but the report believes that talks would depend on him proving his fitness.
Newcastle also want to give Jacob Murphy a new deal this summer after the 30-year-old recently switched agents.

Isak wants Champions League football with Newcastle. That demand could be met in their next game against Arsenal.
Additionally, Isak wants to be Newcastle’s highest earner. That title is currently held by Bruno Guimaraes, who earns £160,000 per week.
With a strong summer ahead, Mitchell will be thinking about keeping players at the club, as well as bringing new ones in.
