'Absolutely' - Manning wants Rusk and Lallana to remain at Saints in some capacity

Rusk and Lallana are currently serving as interim boss and assistant until the end of the season, and have impressed members of Southampton's squad, including Manning.

Manning has praised their methods and Lallana's "unique perspective", but no official word has been given on their future while Saints search for a new permanent boss.

Lallana, who recently turned 37, is signed to a playing contract which expires at the end of this season, and Rusk penned a first-team coach deal in February.

Asked if he would like to see Rusk and Lallana remain involved in some capacity next season, Manning told the _Daily Echo_: "Oh, absolutely. They've been really good.

"The ideas that they came in with were just simple, and they sort of just told us how it was going to be. I think it's probably what we wanted at the time.

"They've both got such good knowledge. With Adam Lallana, he's gone from the red side to the grey side (playing to coaching).

"But his knowledge and the standards that he sets, even when he was training with us, his standards were set through the roof.

"And you can see why he's had this career that he's had. Now he's stepped onto the other side, he's got so much knowledge to pass on.

"He's got such a different, unique perspective on it compared to a lot of coaches because he's played at the highest, highest level.

"He's played in the Champions League, for England and everything. So when he talks, everyone instantly respects him and appreciates what he has to say.

"He's able to relate to everyone quite a lot because he was literally sitting next to me a few weeks ago. I'd definitely like to see them (stay). I think they've done a really good job."
