Ruben Amorim’s planned summer overhaul is developing a recurring theme with the players Manchester United are targeting.
After a decade of poor recruitment, this summer should be when Ineos‘ footballing department really pays off.
Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell have had ample time to plan the window out, and there is certainly a trend developing within the Manchester United recruitment lists.
This trend has seen Premier League proven players targeted, with Matheus Cunha from Wolves looking likely to be United’s first signing, having established himself among the league’s best players.
Liam Delap is also a top target for United in the striker position, with his breakout year coming for Ipswich. Antoine Semenyo is another Premier League-proven target for United, as is Bryan Mbeumo.
The purpose of this is likely to see the players settle in quicker and hopefully give Amorim the quickest start possible.
Now, another name has been mentioned.

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Callum Hudson-Odoi
With the summer drawing near, United will be weighing up options to strengthen, and now it has emerged that Callum Hudson-Odoi from Nottingham Forest could be on the agenda.
This is according to Sky Sports’ United correspondent Dharmesh Sheth, who has reported that United are keeping an eye on Hudson-Odoi’s situation at Forest.

The reason for keeping an eye on his situation is that Hudson-Odoi’s contract talks with Forest are not being concluded easily and remain an ongoing situation.
His contract expires in 2026, so if it becomes clear he won’t sign, then Forest could have to sell this summer, in which case United would be right there in the waiting if this report is to be believed.
This report follows Sheth’s April claim that Hudson-Odoi would be considering his options in the summer. So this is definitely one to watch.
Thomas Tuchel said Callum Hudson-Odoi could shine at wing-back
Long before Hudson-Odoi was a pivotal part of a brilliant Nottingham Forest side, he was the hottest prospect Cobham had to offer, breaking through at Chelsea. The winger was so highly rated that Bayern Munich offered £70m in an option to buy a loan, yet Chelsea refused.
At this time, Hudson-Odoi was struggling for minutes under new England boss Thomas Tuchel, who spoke about the 24-year-old at the time, claiming he viewed him as a wing-back, as quoted by the Independent. This will be music to the ears of Amorim.
“He is able to play as a right wing-back, left wing-back, he can play in these extra positions, he knows the group, and we know him very well. I know it’s not his favourite position, but I think he can play this position and serve the team very well.
“But still he can do better, still he can be more aggressive, and that’s what he does in training. He needs to overcome this gap between training and playing, to fight for his place in this team.”
Hudson-Odoi was tipped to be the next Eden Hazard as the Express claimed, but with Tuchel’s verdict and the system he would join at United, wing-back could be in his future.
Whether this is the right signing for United is yet to be seen, but he does have all the talent in the world and just needs a chance to showcase it.
