Tim Sherwood has commented on reports suggesting Alexander Isak could leave Newcastle United this summer, citing what he was told by legend Les Ferdinand.
The Swede has been unstoppable at times for the Magpies this season, scoring 27 goals in all competitions.
Only Mohamed Salah has scored more goals than Alexander Isak in the Premier League this season as he carried on where he left off after his brilliant 2023/24 campaign.
Newcastle United are extremely happy with Isak, and chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan wants to build a team around him in the future.
Despite that, reports have stated that Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in Isak. The initial belief was that Arne Slot wanted Isak to replace Salah at Liverpool, but the winger has signed a new contract alongside Virgil van Dijk, so wage demands could prove to be a problem for them.
Mikel Arteta is desperate for a new striker to continue their push towards a league title. Their need for a natural number nine was heightened following injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
While Isak’s future remains secure at Newcastle this summer, Tim Sherwood has commented on speculation surrounding a move away.

Arsenal were told to look away from Isak by David Ornstein, with the journalist claiming it is not a realistic deal for anyone this summer.

Former Tottenham man Sherwood seems to agree with that statement after he was asked about Isak’s future on the Kelly and Wrighty show.
Sherwood understood the magnitude of a possible sale, and seemingly urged the 25-year-old to stay on Tyneside and become a legend like former Newcastle striker Les Ferdinand has.
“They’ve had good runs in the Champions League, they enjoy it. The atmosphere is like no other; it’s incredible,” he said.
“They get lauded there, they get worshipped at that football club. Speaking to Les Ferdinand, you would’ve thought he’d been there 10 years, it was just over a year he was there, but they laud him as the messiah. Alan Shearer, of course he was from the area. He was unbelievable, one of the best strikers we’ve ever had in the Premier League.
“So for Isak to go somewhere else, we’re talking about the crown jewels here in Isak. It will be very difficult for Isak, unless they’re not in the Champions League to leave. He will not get that sort of reaction at any other club.”
Isak is contracted at Newcastle until 2028. If he signs a new deal, he has the opportunity to become a club legend and even break Alan Shearer’s record if he continues good form for several years.
Which players could leave Newcastle United this season?
Sporting director Paul Mitchell is set to be very busy this summer, juggling new contracts alongside possible arrivals.
Mitchell will also be required to move players this summer in order to free up room in the squad. There is no shortage of players who can leave.
Lloyd Kelly’s permanent transfer to Juventus is just waiting on official confirmation from the club. The 26-year-old only signed last summer but failed to break into Eddie Howe’s starting XI.
Callum Wilson is set to leave Newcastle at the end of his contract, ending a five-year spell at the club.
Martin Dubravka’s future is still unknown, despite the 36-year-old signing a new contract with the Magpies earlier in 2025.
Elsewhere, Matt Targett is expected to leave Newcastle after continuing to struggle with injuries.
