Arne Engels admits he tries to steal as much as he can from Kevin de Bruyne – but he doesn’t want the Belgium legend nicking his place at Celtic.

The Hoops ace views his Red Devils team-mate as a huge inspiration as he plots his own career path.

De Bruyne is set to call time on his sparkling Man City career in the summer but Engels won’t be trying to tempt his role model over the border.

Engels joked: “He’s in my position so I’m not going to do that!”

De Bruyne is a man to look up to though. Engles said: “Yeah of course.

"When I was in the national team you always try to learn things from those big players and you have the same here. I’m always trying to learn from everybody.

“It’s not only the big players that you’re learning off because every player has their own qualities and their own way of doing things and you can add everything to your game and try to steal everything with your eyes.

“Of course it helps me a lot when you’re in the national team and training with those players and you see how they behave on the training pitch and how they adapt themselves to some kind of situations.

“You’re looking to those players but also in the Champions League if you watch the semi-finals and the other quarter-finals and you see so many good players and trying to see how they behave and how they do.”

The Belgian might be a superstar but Engels insisted De Bruyne is down to earth who is happy to give out advice.

He said: “Yeah, 100 percent. He’s just a normal guy like everybody and that’s also a really good thing to have in the national team.”
