Leeds United are preparing for a huge summer in the [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) market — and West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal is reportedly on their radar.
Following promotion back to the Premier League under Daniel Farke, the Yorkshire club are expected to invest heavily, with up to £100 million earmarked for new signings.
According to reports, Leeds have shown strong interest in the iconic Irons right-back, who could bring valuable top-flight know-how as the club looks to establish itself in the Premier League.
The 31-year-old Czech international has been a model professional for West Ham, and is dearly loved by fans but has now been told he is surplus to requirements and will be available on a free transfer this summer.
Coufal celebrated a proud moment yesterday as his son Niclas signed for West Ham’s academy. He has also spoken of his desire to remain in London for family reasons — his daughter has just enrolled in a new school, and the player has made no secret of his preference to stay in the capital.
While Fulham remain Coufal’s first-choice destination — having made a deadline day bid in February — Leeds are unlikely to give up easily. Their Premier League ambitions, combined with Farke’s desire for experienced leadership, could prove persuasive.
Leeds are also said to be interested in Coufal’s Czech international teammate [Tomas Soucek](https://www.claretandhugh.info/tomas-soucek-bio/), another Hammer who may depart the London Stadium this summer as West Ham prepare for a squad overhaul.
That said, Everton remain favourites to sign Soucek although his knack of scoring important goals could yet persuade Graham Potter to keep hold of him.
