Exclusive: Bastian Schweinsteiger says Man Utd star's broken relationship with Amorim "sad" to…

Bastian Schweinsteiger says Marcus Rashford’s situation at Manchester United makes him ‘sad’ as he reflected on his time playing with the England international at Old Trafford in an exclusive interview with GIVEMESPORT.

The 2014 World Cup winner was teammates with Rashford for almost two seasons from July 2015 to March 2017 and revealed he ‘loved playing’ alongside the 27-year-old, who stood out immediately with his ‘unbelievable qualities’.

Rashford fell out with manager Ruben Amorim earlier this season and was loaned out to Aston Villa in January, where he has been thriving under Unai Emery’s guidance ever since.

The Manchester-born winger has scored four goals and provided six assists in 17 appearances, and Schweinsteiger says he is now happy to see Rashford getting back to his best at Villa Park.

Schweinsteiger Heaps Praise on Marcus Rashford

‘You could immediately see the talent he's got’

Schweinsteiger, speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs, claimed that Rashford needed ‘the right players’ and people around him to make it work at Man United:

“Well, I remember him quite well when Louis van Gaal brought him and Jesse Lingard to the first team, and like you could immediately see the talent he's got, the cheekiness as well, I must say, speed and technical things.

“It's sad that he couldn't contribute more to United and also England, because maybe he needed just like the right players around him, people around him, to make it easier for him as well.

“I loved playing with him. I could see his unbelievable qualities. And I'm happy now to see him actually at Villa that he is like showing it again, and that's nice to see. Wish him all the best.”

Rashford’s career at United took a turn when he was dropped for the Manchester derby in December, and shortly after, the England international said he was ‘ready for a new challenge’.

He joined Villa on a loan deal until the end of the season, which includes an option to buy for £40m.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Villa have not yet decided whether to sign Rashford permanently, as Financial Fair Play and Champions League qualification are likely to dictate their next steps in the transfer market.

Rashford is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2028 and is among the highest earners at Man United, taking home around £300,000 a week.
