Man United keeping tabs on England midfielder

Manchester United travel to London to face Chelsea in their penultimate match of the Premier League season on Friday night.

The Red Devils have endured a torrid season domestically and currently sit 16th in the top flight table after 36 games.

That means Ruben Amorim’s side will miss out on European football next season, unless they beat rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Europa League later this month.

Amorim and those in charge of United’s recruitment are likely to want to bolster his squad during the upcoming transfer window, following a dismal campaign in the Premier League.

With that in mind, it has emerged that United are keeping tabs on an England international.

According to CaughtOffside, the Red Devils are monitoring Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The report claims that United are one of a number of big clubs that are showing interest in the 21-year-old, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past two years.

Wharton joined Palace from boyhood club Blackburn Rovers in February 2024 and has since played 42 times for the Eagles.

His impressive form towards the end of last term earned him a shock call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the European Championships in Germany last summer, however the youngster didn’t feature at the tournament.

Wharton was hampered by injuries at the start of the current campaign, but he has been in fine form since returning to Oliver Glasner’s side.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham are all also said to be interested in the Englishman, who made his senior England debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina last summer.

Wharton’s current contract with Palace is set to expire in 2029, but the report claims that the London side are aware of the significant interest in the player and are therefore hoping to tie him down to a new deal.
