Turkish press claim Jose Mourinho could offer Ruben Amorim unexpected solution to costly£25m headache at Man Utd

Manchester United will be hoping a good transfer window will mean the 2025/26 season is a drastic improvement on the disaster that has been the 2024/25 campaign.

After the disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham on Sunday, it appears Manchester United are going to limp over the line this season, giving fans nothing to shout about domestically.

United sit 16th in the Premier League, one place above the Europa League final opposition, Tottenham, who sit 17th in the league, having lost 20 games. Due to such a lowly position in the league, it is clear that the transfer business done this summer is key.

As important as incomings are, outgoings will be equally as important in order to fund the rebuild that Ineos are planning, with 10 players tipped to be sold at the very least. This includes players currently on loan, looking to earn permanent exits.

Currently shining on loan at Real Betis, Antony has attracted interest from Atletico Madrid, which would be a huge move. Meanwhile, Barcelona are still considering a move for Marcus Rashford.

This leaves Jadon Sancho as the odd one out.

Jose Mourinho wants to bring Jadon Sancho to Fenerbahce

Sancho has spent the season on loan, with an obligation to buy, at Chelsea, yet has failed to impress throughout the campaign. He did play enough, and the Blues finished high enough in the league to mean the £25m buy obligation was triggered, but Chelsea may pay £5m to avoid having to sign Sancho permanently due to a loophole in the deal.

This could see Sancho return to Old Trafford, creating a headache for Ruben Amorim, but Jose Mourinho could be offering a solution.

This comes according to a report in Turkey from Yeniasir, which claims Mourinho is now looking to bring Sancho to Fenerbahce.

It is claimed that Fenerbahce are looking to build a team that can win the Super Lig next season, having finished second to Galatasaray this season. Therefore, stars from across Europe are targeted, including Sancho, for whom the Turkish giants have begun to test the waters.

Mourinho has approved the transfer, and the Fenerbahce staff are in agreement over adding Sancho to their squad, with £25m tipped as the transfer fee required.

Fenerbahce will also have competition, with Bayer Leverkusen keen on signing Sancho.

How has Jadon Sancho performed for Chelsea while on loan from Manchester United?

It has been a pretty disappointing campaign for Sancho, considering how he was expected to impress at Chelsea. Nothing showcases the struggles more than the statistic that Sancho has the worst crossing in the Premier League with a 0.0% completion rate.

For Chelsea, Sancho has tallied up 40 appearances with four goals (three Premier League) and 10 assists (five Premier League), which is a tally that isn’t appalling, but certainly won’t have blown anyone away.

There have been glimpses of the player who was once seen as a future great of the game, such as his excellent goal against Ipswich, but these have been few and far between, to say the least.

So if Chelsea do send Sancho back with £5m, then United should do everything possible to sell, and the options are beginning to grow to achieve this.
