Manchester United could repeat their Mason Mount transfer strategy as they reportedly circle another Premier League player who is nearing the end of his contract. The Red Devils took advantage of the uncertainty surrounding Mount's future at Chelsea in 2023, swooping in as he entered the final year of his deal.
His £55million transfer fee raised eyebrows, considering the circumstances, and relentless injury issues since his Old Trafford arrival have fuelled further scepticism. However, United may look to repeat the move with another former Chelsea player, Callum Hudson-Odoi. The Nottingham Forest winger's future beyond next summer is up in the air, sparking transfer speculation.
According to Sky Sports, United are monitoring Hudson-Odoi's situation as discussions over a new Forest contract are ongoing.
The 24-year-old is out of contract in 2026, and it's claimed that AS Roma and Napoli join two Premier League clubs showing interest in a pursuit.
Hudson-Odoi will reportedly assess his options at the end of the season, potentially opening the door for Forest to cash in rather than losing him for free.
Ruben Amorim is widely expected to focus his summer recruitment drive on his attack, with a striker and a versatile forward believed to be at the top of his shortlist.
United are said to have identified Ipswich Town's Liam Delap as their priority striker target and will look to trigger his £30million release clause.
Meanwhile, Wolves talisman Matheus Cunha has emerged as the club's desired option for a versatile forward and is reportedly in advanced talks over a £62.5m switch.
Hudson-Odoi could also be an option at wing-back in Amorim's 3-4-3 system, though, and may represent an attractive deal if Forest slash their asking price.
The England international has scored five goals and registered a further three assists in 34 appearances for Nuno Espirito Santo's side this season.
He will likely be an alternative option to Cunha rather than in addition to the Brazilian, given United's limited budget, especially if they miss out on Champions League qualification.
But Amorim could move to add a third attacker to his ranks if Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony depart, while Rasmus Hojlund's status is also unclear.
Alejandro Garnacho, too, isn't guaranteed to be at Old Trafford next season after strong interest from Napoli and Chelsea in the January transfer window.
United have also been credited with an interest in Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo and Southampton teenager Tyler Dibling.
