Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs says “it is a joke” that Rasmus Hojlund is the club’s only recognised senior striker.
Speaking on the Webby & O’Neill show, Giggs bemoaned the business that his former club have done in recent transfer windows and he fears they will need more than one summer to correct the mistakes that have been made:
“We do need nine or 10 players but we are not going to get them in this transfer window. That’s the dilemma. Does Ruben Amorim have enough time the get his kind of players in that might take a couple of transfer windows? We need strikers. It is a joke Man United have only got one recognised striker, we have three or four in the past.”

“Not only three or four, three or four quality centre forwards. So if you do get an injury, you do get a loss of form, you’ve got another player coming in. And if they are both on form, they are pushing each other, so it’s win-win. That’s going to take time. that’s modern football, you don’t get it.”
2 forwards could be brought in by Man United
Giggs was more positive about the Red Devils’ plans to spend £92m on Wolves’ Matheus Cunha and Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap. He thinks the pair are “good players” who can improve the current squad.
Cunha is not expected to play through the middle, though, with reports suggesting that Amorim will deploy him in one of the two No.10 roles either side of the main frontman.
Champions League football would aid the revamp of the squad
As Giggs points out as well, signing 9 or 10 players in one summer isn’t realistic and finances will inevitably dictate how many signings are made over the coming weeks and months.
