Lille FC goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier has said that the Premier League “makes you dream” amid interest from Man United.
The Red Devils look likely to add a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window as they aim to find a replacement for Andre Onana, who has had a poor season at the back.
Onana has made 48 appearances in all competitions for Man United this season, conceding 63 goals and keeping 11 clean sheets. Ruben Amorim was forced to drop him during the Europa League earlier in the season due to mistake-prone performances.

With reports linking Onana with a move away, Man United will be looking at which keeper they can bring in to replace the Cameroon international. One name that has been linked is Lille FC’s Lucas Chevalier.
Chevalier, 23, has made 47 appearances in all competitions this season for Lille, conceding 52 goals and keeping 13 clean sheets. Reports have suggested that both United and PSG are keen on signing him, with a reported asking price of around £34m.
In a recent interview, he spoke about the possibility of playing for United in the Premier League. He told the French football awards (quoted by TeamTalk): “The Premier League? It’s a championship that makes you dream, the most attractive,” Chevalier told the French football awards after being named Ligue 1 goalkeeper of the season.
“When you see Tottenham, Manchester United struggling with crazy [good] players, you see the level. I have a two-year contract, and you know the president… I haven’t had any specific proposals from this country, but it makes you think.”
Chevalier could be the cheaper alternative to Diogo Costa
Chevalier isn’t the only top class keeper that has been linked to Man United, as Porto’s Diogo Costa has also been named as a possible target for the Red Devils this summer – alongside Manchester City.
Costa has a superb record for Porto this year, conceding just 45 goals in 42 games, and also keeping 18 clean sheets. However, he has a £64m release clause.
If United were to opt for Chevalier instead, they would get a younger goalkeeper, who would cost them around £30m less, a significant amount of money that they could use on strengthening other positions.
