Amad Diallo has fond memories from his time at Sunderland and he wants to see the Black Cats back in the Premier League.
It was a big night in Sunderland’s season as they sank Coventry City in the final of extra time to book their place in the play-off final at Wembley.
This means Sunderland have two jackpots at stake when they take on Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final on May 24. The first includes a place in the Premier League along with £200 million.
There was a great deal of disappointment for Coventry, who Manchester United fans will remember playing in the FA Cup semi-finals last season after a dramatic encounter at Wembley.
Sunderland were well supported and had the attention of former players, even though they represented the club temporarily.

Sunderland were cheered by two Premier League players on Monday night, including United winger Amad Diallo.
Amad was joined in the stands by Everton stopper Jordan Pickford, with both watching on anxiously before Dan Ballard’s crucial winner.
It is understood that fellow United star Harry Maguire went back to watch his former club, Sheffield United, the previous night, which means there will be camaraderie about the play-offs in the United dressing room.

Amad, 22, was a popular and exciting loan signing for Sunderland in 2022/23. He went there after enduring a difficult spell on loan at Rangers and went on to resurrect his career under the guidance of Tony Mowbray.
Sunderland took to social media to celebrate their win over Coventry before Amad sent a message to the club, writing: “Congrats lads. Back where you deserve to be.”
Amad has not forgotten the importance of his loan move to Sunderland. He has since gone on to become a star player under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
Amad has a major final to play at Manchester United
Although Amad has made it clear he is rooting for Sunderland to win the play-offs and return to the Premier League, the Ivory Coast international will be focused on winning a final of his own.
Manchester United take on Tottenham in the Europa League final next Wednesday and it grants Amorim’s side one final chance at qualifying for the Champions League next season.
The Red Devils have one Premier League match to play before then – away to Chelsea – and Amorim will be trying to avoid further injury setbacks.
