Leeds United dealt setback in ambitious Manchester City star pursuit

Leeds United have fallen behind Nottingham Forest in the race for James McAtee with the Champions League hopefuls set to make a firm move.

There hasn’t been much to criticise the Whites of over the past year with a fine team effort leading to Championship title glory, finishing top of the pile on 100 points.

However, one area in need of strengthening head of the Premier League return is attacking midfield. Several options have been linked with Elland Road moves ahead of the summer too, with Manchester City starlet James McAtee among them.

However, the 22-year-old is not short of admirers, and Nottingham Forest look to have dealt Leeds United a blow in their ambitions pursuit.

Writing on X, TEAMtalk reporter James Marshment says that Forest are set to make a firm move for the Salford-born attacking midfielder and have edged ahead of LUFC in the pursuit for his services.

Manchester City seem increasingly likely to cash in on McAtee, who will enter the last 12 months of his contract with the club this summer.
