Inter Milan weighing up deal for Manchester United star

Manchester United’s summer rebuild is expected to feature several outgoings, particularly in attack after a dismal campaign in front of goal.

The Red Devils have scored just 42 goals heading into the final two Premier League fixtures — a figure only better than Everton among teams outside the relegation zone.

With attacking options under scrutiny and Rasmus Hojlund netting only five league goals all season, decisions will need to be made on players who haven’t delivered.

A huge clear-out is expected as Ruben Amorim heads into his first summer transfer window.

Joshua Zirkzee could now be heading for the Old Trafford exit.

Inter Milan are the latest club to register an interest in the Dutch forward, according to Corriere dello Sport via Calcio Mercato.

The report states that Inter are fully aware of the need to bolster their frontline for next season, especially with Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa both set to leave at the end of the current campaign.

Joshua Zirkzee is seen as an “ideal piece” to slot into Inter’s attack, particularly after his standout performances in Serie A with Bologna before his move to Manchester United.

Despite a difficult year in England, Inter believe there is room to open negotiations for the 22-year-old, with his technical quality, flair, and physical presence suiting their style.

Though he’s not considered a prolific scorer, his ability to link up with teammates and contribute creatively is a key reason for the interest.

His age is also a factor, with Inter believing there is still significant potential for growth.

Importantly, he could be deployed alongside both Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, offering additional tactical flexibility and even allowing for another attacking midfielder to feature.

Financially, Inter believe the deal is workable.

United paid a €40 million clause to sign Zirkzee from Bologna last summer, but the player has lost value over the past 12 months.

The Nerazzurri are reportedly considering a loan with an option to buy — which could become an obligation under certain conditions.

His salary, reported at €3.5 million plus bonuses, would not be a stumbling block.
