Maximo Perrone in action for Como
Manchester City are closing in on a deal that would see midfielder Maximo Perrone join Como permanently for over £25m (€30m). The 22-year-old has spent this season on loan with the Serie A side as they have impressed under manager Cesc Fabregas to sit comfortably in mid-table after promotion.
Perrone signed for City in January 2023 and came to Manchester straightaway, where he made his Premier League debut in a way away at Bournemouth. He then spent a season on loan in La Liga at Las Palmas before spending this year in Italy.
Como have been happy enough with Perrone's contributions to want to sign him on a permanent deal and a £25m deal is close to being agreed. That will see the Blues make around £17m profit on a player who made just one appearance for them as their approach of buying young South American talent continues to be a lucrative business for them.
Jacob Wright is also close to completing a move to Champiosnhip side Norwich that would net City in the region of £2.3m. Wright moved to Norwich on loan for the second half of this season after a dramatic U-turn that saw him choose not to join Swansea in the final week of the window.
The academy product, who made his City debut at Spurs in the Carabao Cup this season, was unable to help the Canaries to land a spot in the play-offs and there has been a change of coach at Carrow Road.
However, the club have pressed ahead with their plan to sign Wright permanently in another transfer will be seen as another show of faith in a City academy that has been consistently producing players for all levels of the game for the last few years.
City are planning another big summer of spending after their £175m splurge in January to begin the rebuild of Pep Guardiola's side, with Florian Wirtz and Morgan Gibbs-White among the targets.
They are comfortably able to within the limitations of Profitability and Sustainability Regulations because of their business in recent years - in part because of the amount of money and profit generated by sales.
These two deals will also help their position in a busy summer that will see the club replace one of their greatest ever players in Kevin De Bruyne as well as refresh several other positions.
